Creamy Chocolate Avocado Smoothie
I’m a huge avocado fan. I love avocado on toast (with a drizzle of olive oil), in a veggie wrap, or on its own with a little bit of sea salt sprinkled on top. Yum! You might think I’d draw the line at an avocado smoothie, but nope. Avocados can do no wrong!
With this being said, this smoothie is more like a healthy chocolate pudding than a traditional type of smoothie. And the best part? You can eat it for breakfast, as a snack, or as an afternoon pick-me-up, and you don’t have to feel guilty at all. Plus, this creamy chocolate avocado smoothie is filled with antioxidant-rich cocoa powder and healthy fatty acids.

Since May is Mental Health Month, our Creamy Chocolate Avocado Smoothie recipe wouldn’t be complete without a mention of this smoothie’s mental health benefits. As it turns out, this smoothie may help to keep you calm and stress-free.
According to Dr. Joseph Mercola, healthy foods like avocados and dark chocolate may help to naturally relieve stress. Apparently, dark chocolate has even been called the new anti-anxiety drug! I don’t know about you, but dark chocolate is a drug I will gladly take. Additionally, avocados can help to stabilize blood sugar levels, moods, and therefore, stress levels. As you can see, dark chocolate (like unsweetened cocoa powder) and avocado make one powerful duo.
Just a few notes and tips for making this Creamy Chocolate Avocado Smoothie:
- I used unsweetened almond milk, but feel free to use any type of non-dairy milk you prefer.
- If the smoothie is too thick, add a bit more almond milk to thin it out.
- Feel free to add a drop or two of pure maple syrup or raw agave nectar.
- Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and then scoop out the flesh and add it to your blender.
