Strawberry Banana Chia Seed Smoothie

With a combination of healthy ingredients like fresh strawberries, frozen bananas, almond milk, chia seeds, and cacao nibs, you really can’t go wrong. As we mentioned in a previous post, cacao nibs help to elevate low moods and they’re packed full of nutritional benefits such as protein, antioxidants, iron, magnesium, and calcium. Additionally, antioxidant-rich chia seeds are made up of 14% protein, so they fill you up faster and keep you full for longer.

If you love the naturally sweet flavor of strawberry banana, you’re going to love this delicious vegan chia seed smoothie. You won’t even notice the chia seeds and cacao nibs in the recipe! All you’ll taste is a delicious blend of strawberries, bananas, and overall goodness.

Just a few notes and tips for making this vegan chia seed smoothie:

  • I used almond milk to create this smoothie, but any type of non-dairy milk would work. Get creative and use coconut milk, pea milk, or flax milk! All are excellent plant-based milks.
  • If you tend to experience bloating or stomach upset when consuming chia seeds, try letting the chia seeds soak in the non-dairy milk for a few minutes before blending and consuming. When you allow chia seeds to soak and expand before you consume them, the chia seeds won’t expand in your stomach – which can sometimes lead to bloating.
  • If you don’t have chia seeds, you could use ground flax meal or hemp seeds as a substitute.
  • Depending on your blender, you may need to add a bit more milk and re-blend.
